Student Success Statement #91

Student Success Statement
“Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both in dollars and in peace of mind”
-B.C. Forbes

Reflection:

I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to be really careful with what they do and say. Sometimes people think that is they are dishonest it won’t really do any damage on anybody because when someone is dishonest it is just not being truthful. Sometimes if people are dishonest, they are always telling little white lies. If you keep on saying little white lies, they will become much more than that. Do the right thing and don’t be dishonest.

Student Success Statement #90

Student Success Statement
"Stop worrying about whether you're going to win or lose and focus your full attention on what's happening right this moment."
-Phil Jackson

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that you shouldn't worry about the future. You should worry about the present because the future is not what you are living right this moment. The future  will come only if you worry about what you are doing right this moment. Sometimes what people do is that they only worry about the future and what will the future be like, but they can only find out about the future if they worry about the present.

Student Success Statement #89

Student Success Statement
“Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon.”
-Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people should always say the truth because if they don’t, then they will probably fall. Sometimes people feel that they have to lie to protect someone else, but they actually don’t because if they tell them the truth then they will avoid making the other person mad because they lied to them. At the end, the best thing to do is to tell the truth.

Student Success Statement #88

Student Success Statement
"Everyone is the architect of their own learning."
-Claudius
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to decide what their learning will be like and not let others decide for them. If people let others decide what their learning will be like, then they will not learn the way they want to, therefore, they will not learn much. Sometimes all it takes is to decide for yourself how you want to learn.

Student Success Statement #87

Student Success Statement
"Start with what is right rather that what is acceptable."
-Peter F. Drucker

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to be very careful before they do something that they will regret. Sometimes people do things without think about it and they end up regretting it. Also, people do what other expect and sometimes it is the wrong thing to do. So, you should always try to do what is right than what is actually expected.

Student Success Statement #86

Student Success Statement
"To be great--concentrate."
-Orson Sweet Mardin

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to be more concentrated on what they are doing. Sometimes people don't really concentrate on what is actually important and they end up doing something that really isn't that important. People need to not get distracted when they need to be really focused, like when they are taking a test, or doing their homework. They need to be concentrating on a test or homework so that they totally get it and don't get stuck. Do the right thing and concentrate.

Student Success Statement #85

Student Success Statement
"Education is a marathon--not a sprint"
-ANON

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to try and not try to do things so quickly during your education time because sometimes people try to rush and end up doing everything wrong. Sometimes it just takes things slowly to happen.

Student Success Statement #84

Student Success Statement
“The man who has no imagination has no wings.”
-Muhammad Ali
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to try and have imagination so that they can at least try to pursue them. Sometimes all it takes for someone to go far is a little of imagination. If people didn't have imagination they would think about what could happen to them and they wouldn't try to even go far because they didn't imagine what would happen.

Student Success Statement #82

Student Success Statement
“Failure is only postponed success as long as courage coaches ambition. The habit of persistence is the habit of victory.”
-Herbert Kaufman
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people don’t need to be afraid of having failure in their lives, because sometimes failure is a good thing. If someone goes through failure, they are more likely to learn from their mistake and then they will do better the next time that they try. Sometimes not giving up after failure is the only way to succeed.

Student Success Statement #81

Student Success Statement
“To see what is right and not to do it is want of courage.”
-Confucius
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people sometimes realize what the right thing to do is and they don’t do it. That means that they want to be courageous but they aren’t. Sometimes it is best to be courageous because that means that they can do the right thing.

Student Success Statement #80

Student Success Statement
“Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.”
-Matt Biondi

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to be more persistent because if people are more persistent they can change failure. If people change failure and they do that by do thing the wrong thing then they are an excellent example of someone who chooses the right.

Student Success Statement #79

Student Success Statement
“Improve your performances by improving your attitude.”
Anon
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to have a good attitude in order for them to have a good performance over all. Sometimes people don’t have a good attitude and they just have a negative attitude that will make their performance very negative because of their attitude.

Student Success Statement #78

Student Success Statement
“Always do right.”
-Mark Twain
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to do the right thing always and that people need to think about what they are doing before they do it. Sometimes it seems as if doing the wrong is the best way out of a situation, but if you do the right thing, you will get more out of it that is positive.

Student Success Statement #76

Student Success Statement
“The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.”
-Margaret Chase Smith
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to try and do the right thing always even when everyone always say that it is best to do what other people do so that you won’t stand alone. She is saying that people need to stand on what they believe and not on what others think is the right thing to do.

Student Success Statement #75

Student Success Statement
“Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential.”
-Liane Cordes
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people should try really hard to do what they have to do because sometimes when someone keeps on trying they get even better at it. If people decide not to try and they just give up, they end up not doing their best job.

Student Success Statement #74

Student Success Statement
"Be quick, but don't get into a hurry."
-John Wooden

Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to be quick enough to do what they have to do, but slow enough to actually learn from what they did and get it right the first time. Sometimes people do things so fast that they don't even know what they are doing and at the end they didn't learn anything at all. For example, if someone is supposed to copy down notes and they do it really fast, they will not because learn anything from it because they did everything in such a rush.

Student Success Statement #73

Student Success Statement
“When an archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself.
Failure to hit the bulls-eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim, improve yourself.”
-Gilbert Arland
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to try and shoot for the best because if they don’t they will not get to be the best. Sometimes people don’t really try and shoot for the best, but they want to be the best. People have to shoot for the best, to be the best.

Student Success Statement #71

Student Success Statement
"Your future is created by what you do today, not tomorrow"
-Robert Kiyosaki
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to think about what they are doing the day they are living than the day after. Sometimes people think about the day after, but then realize that the next day can wait and that it is time to think about the present day. People sometimes don't realize that the next day they could die, or they will be very different, so remember think about the present day and not the next day.

Student Success Statement #69

Student Success Statement
“When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece.
This rule is even more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better. By applying yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then you will be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for the lost day.”
John Wooden
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that people need to do the best they can when they have the chance because sometimes when you do things the first time you will get it better than when you do it the second time. It will also, show that you actually tried to do the best you can the first time than the second time.

Student Success Statement #68

Student Success Statement
“Every time I've done something that doesn't feel right, it’s ended up not being right.”
-Mario Cuomo
Reflection:
I think that this statement is trying to say that if something doesn't feel like it is the right thing to do; it isn't the right thing to do. It sometimes feels like the right thing to do, but it ends up not being the right thing to do. Always do the right thing.
